"Great Weekend Getaway at Tanjong Jara Resort" (Kuala Terengganu Malaysia)

Tanjong Jara Resort , located on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Tanjong Jara Resort is a sanctuary of luxury and well-being steeped in age-old Malay traditions. Designed to reflect the elegance and grandeur of 17th century Malay palaces, Tanjong Jara is a 99-room resort with an authentic taste of the region's spirit and an enduring embodiment of the gentle Malay art of service and hospitality.

Tanjong Jara Resort

The philosophy of the Resort is as unique as the Resort itself. Based on the Malay concept of Sucimurni, which emphasises purity of spirit, health and well-being, Tanjong Jara encourages true rejuvenation of both body and spirit.  And, it was only last weekend, I traveled to this beautiful resort where I've had an amazing sweet escapade.  The Resort is accessible by road from all the major cities within Peninsular Malaysia. It is approximately a mile away from the expressway and just over an hour's drive from Kuala Terengganu Airport. Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia and Firefly operate flights from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to Kuala Terennganu, Kerteh and Kuantan.

From Singapore, my friend and I flew to Kuala Lumpur (45 mins.) then,  from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu (45 mins.) . Upon arrival in the airport, our transportation awaits and only after 1 hr. and 10mins., we finally arrived at Tanjong Jara resort.

At Tanjong Jara you can choose from a wide variety of possible experiences - lazy and languid, energetic and outdoors, indulgent and regenerative, cultural and enlightening - it is your choice whether you fold them into a single visit, or you craft each visit differently to meet your needs. And, among their 99 rooms and suite to offer http://www.tanjongjararesort.com/accommodation/index.htm it was their "Serambi Sea View Room" we have chose to stay, which cost us RM899nett
(S$338) per room per night for RESIDENT'S PACKAGE ( Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and other expat including its expatriates ) ; that includes daily breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After chillaxing in the room, we had our lunch at one of their restaurants,  "Nelayan Restaurant". 'Nelayan' in the Malay language means 'Fisherman'. Befitting the restaurant's name, seafood is the speciality of this outlet. Situated by the sea, the atmosphere at Nelayan is relaxed and informal. A variety of Asian and Western light meals are served for lunch and Western cuisine at dinner. Nelayan assumes a romantic ambience after sunset and guests have the option of enjoying a delightful alfresco dining experience on the beach featuring bamboo torches and the gentle sound of the waves and the view from this restaurant is totally amazing from the beach and swimming pool.

In the afternoon, I had a 3-hour SPA Treatment at "SPA Village Tanjong Jara" http://www.spavillage.com/tanjongjara/ . This beautiful complex of structures, gardens and pools, houses a therapy centre featuring programs for relaxation, reinvigoration and stress relief based on traditional healing methods. At the Spa Village Tanjong Jara these long held health and beauty traditions are revived for you to enjoy. Treat yourself to this rich history, in which unique natural ingredients found in various indigenous herbs and plants are combined with the skills of their   resident Malay healers to provide a very special health and beauty experience. And, among the list of their amazing best spa treatments, it is their 3-hour "Traditional Malay Experience", I tried and for me "the best SPA experience that I've had" so far yet which cost me only RM755++(S$284).

In the evening, we had our dinner at  Di Atas Sungei Restaurant.  Di Atas Sungei is Malay for 'Above The River' so guests will find it easy to spot this restaurant which literally sits above a river that flows into the South China Sea. With no menu, guests are guided by the Resort's Menu Masters, experts in local cuisine, who provide a distinctive dining experience using only the freshest produce of the highest quality. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery, and shaded by a huge Ketapang tree, the restaurant opens for breakfast and dinner, and serves authentic Malaysian cuisine
